Tuina Department

Brief introduction

Founded in 1978, Department of Tuina is a key specialty and discipline authorized by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine that incorporates clinical service, education and scientific research. We can award a doctor and master's degree on major of TCM Tuina. It is a base for “Emei Traumatology Therapy” workshop, an intangible cultural heritage of Sichuan Province. We won the best clinical specialty among TCM hospitals by Allipi Hospital Management Center.

Our department has 36 medical workers, including 10 with senior titles, 1 doctoral tutor, 5 master supervisors, 6 with doctoral degree, 8 with master's degree, represented by Dr. Luo Caigui (chief doctor), the fifth generation inheritor of “Emei Traumatology Therapy” and Dr Luo Jian (chief doctor), the sixth generation inheritor of “Emei Traumatology Therapy”. Professor Luo Caigui has been assigned abroad several times by Ministry of Foreign Affairs as health care physician for emirate of the United Arab Emirates and Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa.

Dominant Diseases

We mainly focus on spinal diseases and injuries of the limbs, articulus and sinew. We provide outpatient service for cervical vertebral disease, lumbar disc protrusion, children's muscular oblique neck and other diseases and own 119 beds for inpatient section.

Characteristic Clinical Techniques and Hospital Preparation

We integrate Luo’s characteristic Tuina, “Emei Traumatology Therapy” with modern spinal techniques, especially physiotherapy to create the systematic treatment for sinew injuries. We created a series of characteristic and effective tuina manipulation for trauma, including Luo’s toe-treading, tapping for unblocking TaiYang Chanel, Tuina following the bladder Chanel, Luo’s hooking and pointing, Luo’s pinching and flicking for neck. They are especially effective for the following five types of diseases: cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, knee osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, muscular torticollis in children.

Hospital preparations with efficacy for special diseases have been made, such as Guibing Yaotongling Suppository, Lou’s Huoxue Wenjing Paste, and Jingkangshu. These preparations take significant effects under the guidance of syndrome differentiation.

International Education

Our department has trained more than 1000 Tuina professionals for more than 10 countries and regions. One to two doctors are sent to work or exchange in Switzerland, USA, Montenegro and other countries every year.
