Pediatrics Department

Brief Introduction

The Department of Pediatrics was established in 1956, and authorized to award master's degree in 1981 and doctor's degree in 2005. In 2013, it became a key discipline and medical specialty in Sichuan province. It is also a National TCM Clinical Trial Base for Children’s Medication and a comprehensive department integrating medical service, scientific research and teaching.

We have 1 national prestigious TCM physician, 1 Top-10 famous TCM doctor in Sichuan province, 7 famous TCM doctors in Sichuan province, 2 academic and technical leaders of Sichuan Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1 excellent expert with outstanding contribution in Sichuan province, 1 national excellent TCM clinical talent of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 5 doctoral tutors and 4 master tutors. We have one studio of inheriting the academic experience of famous TCM experts and one studio of Top-10 famous TCM doctors in Sichuan province.

Dominant Diseases

The annual outpatients are more than 200000, among whom more than 95% are treated with TCM. The commonly-seen diseases in our department include respiratory, digestive, nerve, kidney, endocrine, various infectious diseases, etc. We provide expert outpatient service for children’s diseases, such as cough and asthma, purpura and nephrosis, short stature and precocious puberty, spasm and hyperactivity, anorexia and constipation. Our specialties have formed very early and each specialty has a clear targeted aim, a stable academic team, necessary laboratory platforms, scientific research auxiliary facilities, and support for graduate training.

Characteristics Preparation

Yinting Qingfei Oral Liquid, used for cough due to lung heat, panting, coughing of yellow phlegm, fever and dry throat.

Xiaoning Oral Liquid, used for bronchial asthma, bronchiolitis and asthmatic bronchitis with symptoms like cough, panting, profuse sputum, oppression in the chest, aversion to cold, etc.

Haoqin Huashi Oral Liquid, used for fever, sore throat, cough and asthma, thick and greasy tongue coating, and scanty yellow urine caused by damp-heat accumulating internally and lung failing to diffuse and govern descent.

Jianpi Zengshi Tablets, used for poor appetite.

In addition, a variety of TCM external treatments are carried out, such as enema, application, steam-wash, ear points, tuina, cupping and bloodletting therapy.

Scientific Research Achievements

We have more than 30 scientific research projects of all levels, including 5 national projects. More than 100 papers and 10 monographs have been published. We have won 5 science and technology progress awards of provincial and bureau level. 2 new drugs of category III have been developed. We’ve served as editor or deputy editor to write textbooks of the 11^th, 12^th and 13^th Five Year Plan, textbooks for self-study examination, and textbooks for postgraduates. Each year, we participate in a number of national and provincial teaching competitions and win awards, and successfully hold a number of national and provincial continuing education classes and lectures for academic exchange.
