Basic information
The Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion was founded in 1956 by Professor Wu Jixian, the national famous TCM acupuncture and moxibustion expert. Upon its establishment, there were a team of national famous acupuncture and moxibustion experts, such as Wu Zhaoxian, Yu Zhongquan, Li Zhongyu, etc. Now we have a chief "973" scientist, professor Liang Fanrong who is also our academic and technical leader, and several famous TCM doctors in Sichuan province, like Hu Lingxiang, Li Ji, Li Yiongkun, etc. We have 8 chief doctors and 6 deputy chief doctors. We have a medical team of 46 staff, including doctors, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals.
Our department is composed of inpatient section, outpatient section, and rehabilitation center. At present, we have 76 beds, and the rehabilitation center covers an area of about 1500 square meters, including traditional rehabilitation section and modern rehabilitation section.
Our department is authorized as the "Sichuan TCM Rehabilitation Service Standardized Demonstration Center" by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), Sichuan key medical specialty, Sichuan Acupuncture Clinical Research Center and also a teaching and scientific research center. Acupuncture and Moxibustion is approved as a NATCM key discipline during the "Twelfth Five Year Plan" period.
Dominant diseases
Our department adopts acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, catgut embedding, and other TCM therapies, combined with modern rehabilitation technologies such as exercise therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive function training, speech function training, swallowing function training, physical factor therapy to treat nervous system diseases, bone and joint diseases, various acute and chronic pain, gynecological diseases and other diseases rehabilitation. Significant efficacy has been achieved. Stroke and sequelae rehabilitation, facial paralysis rehabilitation, paraplegia rehabilitation, cervical spondylosis, and lumbar spine disease rehabilitation are the dominant diseases in our department, and the efficacy enjoys a high reputation in Southwest China.
Scientific Research
We take charge of and participate in 28 national scientific research projects such as the national 973 program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 25 provincial scientific research projects. Several achievements have won provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards, and more than 100 academic papers have been published. The academic leader of acupuncture led the development of Acupuncture Clinical Practice Guide for Bell’s Facial Paralysis.
